The 2008 Presidential election is filled with firsts and technology is no different.
The Internet is transforming election politics. Campaign Web sites, social networking and blogs are driving greater two-way communications between the candidates and the public. Public news access is no longer limited to network broadcasts and media coverage. Today, information is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
These changes in technology are breaking down conventional barriers and engaging the public in new ways – providing greater public influence to shape the political process than ever before.
Level 3 Communications is enabling these changes by offering the video network infrastructure and services to support greater information distribution, access and interactivity over the Internet.
As the Official Live Video and Content Delivery Services Provider for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Level 3 supported the distribution of both traditional broadcast and online viewing, including the first-ever live HD streaming of the Convention.
During the Convention, Level 3 also captured more than 30 video interviews focused on the intersection of politics and the Internet. The interviews were conducted on the Level 3 Red Couch with participants from the Rocky Mountain Roundtable and other notable events throughout the four days of the Convention.
