France Telecom Leases Additional Bandwidth Capacity on Level 3 Network in North America
BROOMFIELD, Colo., May 10, 2001 - Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:LVLT) today announced it has signed a new agreement to provide additional broadband transport capacity to France Telecom in North America.

The new agreement is distinct from the dark fiber agreement announced in October 2000. Under that contract, France Telecom purchased dark fiber and related services throughout
(3)Link Private Line provides dedicated amounts of bandwidth connecting two fixed locations while bypassing the public switched telephone network. This service is typically purchased by companies that need to transmit large amounts of data, video, or voice quickly on a secure tranmission path.
